About
Hi, I'm Stefanie.
I went from stressed out, miserable, and earning $37K a year early in my career to landing an awesome 6-figure Sales Ops job before the age of 30.
Here's my story:
After graduating college with honors and two degrees to my name, I was on top of the world at the age of 22. I then went on to land a well-paying job at my dream company in the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. I felt unstoppable.
Then, I actually got to work.
All of a sudden, I was the rookie and even worse, I hated my new job: sales. As much as I wanted sales (and later customer service) to work out for me, it wasn't a good fit and I was miserable for the first 4 years of my career. I constantly tried to come up with ways to escape, to run away from it all. I thought I'd head off to Japan to teach English or maybe reconnect with my German roots and start anew across the pond.
Life certainly wasn't going as planned and I knew that something needed to change.
That's when I stumbled into a new role where I could build on my existing background in sales but also focus on doing more analytical work. That's when I found AirWatch and Sales Operations. From that day forward, my life changed.
At first, I had no clue what I was doing. Absolutely none. And, with the average employee age hovering around 25, neither did anyone else on my team.
Over time, though, I started to figure things out: Salesforce, reporting, Excel, streamlining sales processes, data management, etc.. You name it, I did it. Many times, I learned things the hard way. Instead of having someone teach me step-by-step, I constantly found myself Googling solutions and faced a steady uphill battle trying to figure things out on my own. I'd often realize months later that my carefully crafted manual process could have either been automated or at least cut down to minutes instead of hours or days. How frustrating!
After spending nearly 3 years at AirWatch working my way up from an entry-level team member to managing a team of 10 analysts, I landed a new gig to help establish a Sales Ops department from scratch. This, too, proved to be another great opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge myself. And now, I'm in the midst of doing it all over again.
Since I landed in Sales Ops, I've digested boatloads of information, but throughout my entire journey, I've always found myself irritated that there's no real resource for up and coming Sales Ops pros! Sure, there are plenty of Salesforce or Excel or sales resources but nothing that pulls it all together. There's nothing that outlines the path for people trying to develop their Sales Ops careers.
That's why I decided to put this website together. It's my way of scratching my own itch, compiling everything I've learned in one place, and most importantly, giving back to my Sales Ops family.
My site contains a little bit of everything for the next generation of Sales Ops folks. From mindset changes to finding opportunities to add value to the tactical how-tos, I'll share the many insights I've gained along my journey from failing sales rep to 6-figure director.
